Unfortunately I have to leave you my fellow (worst)writers for the next couple of weeks (till mid July?) with this post. I’ll be traveling where there’s not much Internet and even if I do happen across a decent connection I’ll refrain from bothering its use. In case you’re wondering, here’s more gibberish.
Ain’t that cool?
I spent a few nights recently trying to break through something that’s been bothering me with my new story Gloria. Writing Gloria has been very difficult recently. Between all the other stuff that makes up life – there is something other than (worst)writing isn’t there? – I’ve not been able to really focus on this significant hurdle. In fact, according to my map…
Map = yes, I’ve actually mapped out the novel/story
I’m two-thirds complete with the first manuscript. She’s been a bit of a be-atch the last month on account I’ve either been drunk too much or I might have taken a wrong turn in the narrative after I started the complete rewrite in May. What is for sure regarding this story is that it’s definitely a novel, albeit a short one. Of course it’s also a bad novel – but that part needn’t be addressed further here.
Or?
I’m off for a bit of travel, as was the case here and here, and I’m sure that I’ll be taken away from what should be my work. But that is the way the cookie crumbles when you live life for others. I suppose. I guess, what I’m trying to say…
Especially when I type gibberish like this:
I’m trying to say that all I can really do is dream about writing and not actually do it. Perhaps that was/is because (worst)writers simply weren’t meant to do such things.
Ah well.

I’m not any authority on writing, having never published a book, but after doing this for years, I consider first draft AS the outline. My so-called books have to go through at least six drafts before they come to life. It’s a lot of fun though, since the basic plot line has already been created. I just love editing and revising!

Hope you have a good time on your travels. All first drafts are bad, so don’t worry too much about that. You’ll clean up the dross when you rewrite/edit the piece.

I hear you on the bad novel thing. I’m starting to think I have one of those on my hands too. I’ve been working on this for, actually I’ve lost count now. I think it’s a little late to light candles and do a ritual for it, so I’m going to just take the easy route and hold my breath. Happy Writing and I hope you enjoy your vacation.

Hi! I’m new to your blog. I discovered it on Suburban Life- congratulations on the award.
I too have lagging confidence when it comes to writing, but I go ahead and write anyway, and I can tell you do too. I remember a line from a movie, “I’ve heard the Mermaids Singing”, when one of the characters says why she’s an artist. “I paint for the kicks.”
Do you mind if I add you to my blogroll? If you have a chance when you’re back from my vacation, try to check my blog out too!
